Report and Code Help

Title: Report and Code Help -AI-Assisted PeopleSoft BI Publisher Report Development and Troubleshooting

Use Case: A specific reporting tool, Oracle’s PeopleSoft BI Publisher, operates within strict technical boundaries and relies on specific versions of XSL, RTF template markup, and PeopleCode/XML data engines. Strict syntax standards or obscure system constraints often lead to opaque error messages and make it hard to get a working prototype. With all of this in mind, building a custom Gemini Gem tailored to the exact version of BI Publisher and PeopleSoft PeopleTools aided in the creation of more advanced reports. This helped with brainstorming ideas and allowed for quicker turnaround in testing and troubleshooting. The suggestions were not always accurate but did help in exploring options. This use case is currently in production.

Impact: Speed up possible solutions to problems and help find workarounds for different errors. Able to bridge the gap between perceived tool limitations and desired outcomes.

AI Tool: Gemini. This tool is currently a UC Berkeley licensed AI tool. Licensed tool(s) used: Gemini.

Limitations & lessons learned: The tool was not always accurate, which led to some test cases that did not work, but standard testing caught these cases.

Audience: Personal code tool, but the concept can be adapted to anyone working on any codebase or tool. It is used by approximately 1.

Risk assessment: This use case has not been reviewed by any campus AI risk or data governance body.
